  • 5+ years of IBM MQ Administration at the system level
  • Experience with MQ installs (z\OS and distributed) and support (version 7+)
  • Experience working with mainframe, UNIX/Linux systems, or Window Servers
  • Ability to network and partner with business applications and technical teams
  • Ability and willingness to work on an on-call rotating schedule  
 
Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Coding experience with IIS, C#, .Net and Unix Shell scripting
  • Experience using automation with Ansible automation (for middleware platforms)
  • Experience using JCL (Job Control Language) to run batch jobs
  • Knowledge of IBM Db2 Family
  • Some Java experience or knowledge
  • Powershell scripting experience

Why Open: backfill + additional scope
Team/Role: There are 400+ servers that are on auto-support MQ releases, wants this totally upgraded by Oct 2022 so they can stop paying for extended support.  Aetna is on v 8.0, CVS is on v 9.0, they are trying to get to v.9.1.  Currently in AIX and Linux environments but Linux is stronger since that’s where they’re moving everything.  Needs folks to drive upgrades since they have a lot of work to do, on top of shadowing the current administrators who will be retiring.  One of the guys – they have a GUI tool he wrote that does inventory, some monitoring, onboarding/creation of new queues, helps to bring clients on board – a lot of automation smarts built behind this so the automation piece will be huge (this is where C# and C++ come into play as well). 

  • Selling points for joining Keith’s team at CVS:
    • They are involved with a lot of initiatives across CVS/Aetna and help deliver new tools on all the cloud providers (either fully owning the product or the integration aspects)
    • They try to set themselves up so they don’t just do one thing and are able to have their hands in different areas.  There is opportunity to gain knowledge and work with various SMEs, various products, various groups with the Enterprise
    • The team watches out for each other, people volunteer and jump in when issues or questions arise and are always willing to help each other out

Assist with performing an MQ Environment and Deep Dive Review focusing on:
o      Stability
o      Configurations & Consistency
o      Health Checks
o      Proactive Monitoring
o      Product Currency
o      Defining Action Steps and Timelines
Start: ASAP! Must be able to start 2 weeks from offer
Duration: contract through 2022 + opportunity for extension + contract to hire if eligible (prefers no h1s but open to strong candidates)
Interview Process: 1 round video WebEx to hire

Background Check:
7 year criminal (federal, county, state)

Drug test – 10 panel
Hours / Shift: First – 40 hours / week + on call for production support team (rotation)
Notes: It can be as quickly as take a few days and up to 2 weeks to confirm a start date for candidates after they accept the verbal as the ITERR form approval process moves through the internal course
